China-Vietnam cross-border fast customs clearance freight train services have entered regular operation, with scheduled weekly trains increasing from 3 to 14. The service achieves “same-day departure, same-day arrival and same-day customs clearance.” These “steel camel caravans,” running between the two countries, have not only removed bottlenecks in cross-border logistics but also activated new momentum for bilateral economic and trade cooperation, injecting sustained vitality into regional opening-up and development.
With continuous upgrades to railway speed and ongoing innovations in customs clearance models, the “station-to-station” transit time between Nanning and Hanoi has been reduced to as fast as 14 hours, while cross-border express delivery can be completed within 12 hours. This has further lowered overall logistics costs. The “single declaration, single inspection and single release” customs clearance model, combined with 24-hour clearance services, eliminates repeated declarations and long waiting times for goods. It effectively addresses urgent challenges faced by enterprises, opens a “fast lane” for time-sensitive industries such as electronics and precision machinery, and enables fresh Vietnamese fruits to enter the Chinese market more quickly.
